Catching the Wolf of Wall Street: More Incredible True Stories of Fortunes, Schemes, Parties, and Prison - Jordan Belfort

I am currently 136 pages deep into Catching the Wolf of Wall Street. As of now, Jordan is caught and looking for a way to get out of prison. So what does he do? He becomes a rat and cooperates to keep his second wife, Nadine, out of prison. Before he knows it, he is being dragged to the basement of the FBI Headquarters and is brought before 5 people to tell his tale from the beginning. Also incognito with the story, he has a list with just short of a 100 names on it of people involved with Stratton Oakmont's stock fraud. Well, I don't want to spoil too much of the story for you, until next time...

Catching the Wolf of Wall Street: More Incredible True Stories of Fortunes, Schemes, Parties, and Prison - Jordan Belfort

I just finished up reading The Pursuit of Happyness, and am now starting Jordan Belfort's second novel. This sequel takes the reader back into the life of a crazy rich guy. From his humble beginning to his walk of shame. And all the spaces in between. Even how he messed up and went to jail! That's all I have this week, until my next blog...

The Pursuit of Happyness - Chris Gardner

Update: I'm currently 259 pages in. This book is a very inspiring book. Chris starts out with nothing, has no idea who his father is, his mother is in jail, and he's living with his aunt and uncle. Then, his mother is out of jail and he moves in with her and his very abusive step father. He has a rough life, being verbally abused and poor, but he is very bright and has high hopes of the future. Then, he graduates high school and enlists in the Air Force. In the Air Force he is an apprentice to a senior doctor in command. His boss decides to move his practice to San Francisco and set up a research lab for Chris to help run. Chris then moves there and ends up marrying his sweetheart. Everything is going well until Chris gets a different woman pregnant. They get a divorce, and Chris moves in with his "mistress." She leaves him and he gets a job as a stock broker. He spends the next year of his life homeless, living paycheck to paycheck... Until next time.

American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History - Chris Kyle, Scott McEwen, Jim DeFelice, John Pruden

I'm currently 210 pages deep into Chris Kyle's book American Sniper. So far, this book is excellent. This story gives an inside look at what the Navy Seals do on a day-to-day basis. Not only does it cover the life of Chris Kyle, but also of his wife Taya. It also talks about the mental struggle he and his wife go through, from his PTSD, to her having to raise their son on her own. But I don't want to spoil it all for you, so you'll have to read it on your own if you want the rest of the story.

American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History - Chris Kyle, Scott McEwen, Jim DeFelice, John Pruden

I just started reading Chris Kyle's autobiography, American Sniper. This book reflects on Chris Kyle's military career along with bits of his personal life. Chris Kyle is remembered as the most lethal sniper in American History, with over 161 confirmed kills. But this book isn't all about him killing Iraqis. It's about an American Patriot, who would do anything for his country. Without men like Chris Kyle, America would not be the country that it is today.

This weeks Reading

Airplane Flying Handbook - FAA Federal Aviation Administration

This week while reading Airplane Flying Handbook, I read 3 chapters. Ground Reference Maneuvers, Take-Offs, and Airport Patterns. The Ground Reference Maneuvers chapter explained how to correctly perform these maneuvers; flying a perfect circle around a point, figure eights, and half-circles along a road. The second chapter explains take-offs from a nose-wheel airplane. While the third chapter talked about the patterns of an airport, from take-off patterns to landing patterns. In my next training flight I will practice all of these maneuvers.

progress update

Airplane Flying Handbook - FAA Federal Aviation Administration

I am reading this book to prepare me for my training flights I take on the weekend. My goal with this book, is to prepare me to eventually get my pilot's license. So far, this book is an excellent tool for learning how to fly. Whether it's from the detailed drawings showing how to go about aerial maneuvers, to the very clear and accurate print explaining step by step the pictures and beyond. I would highly recommend this book to anyone pursuing their pilot's license.

Wolf of Wall Street Review

The Wolf of Wall Street - Jordan Belfort

After Finishing Jordan Belfort's book, The Wolf of Wall Street, all I can say is wow. His story captures the American Dream, from Jordan starting out dirt-poor with $13 to his name, to owning a billion dollar a year brokerage firm. Not to mention his crazy stories, like sinking a 170 foot yacht! Or flying a helicopter on all kinds of drugs and living to tell the story. This book is worth the read, just to hear all the crazy stories Jordan has to tell! I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a fast-paced fun read.

Update Pg 375

The Wolf of Wall Street - Jordan Belfort

I haven't read a whole lot since my last blog, but a lot has happened still. First, Stratton Oakmont is going under due to Danny's leadership skills. And second, Steve Madden Shoes is on target to have a $50 million year in 1996. While all that is happening, Jordan's wife, "the duchess," is in labor with their second child. After little baby Carter is born, Jordan does the appropriate thing by handing out over $50,000 worth of gold watches to people in the waiting room. That is where I leave you for this week, until next time.

Progress Update pg 332

The Wolf of Wall Street - Jordan Belfort

Since my last update, many things have happened. First, Jordan can no longer be the boss of Stratton Oakmont, due to a lawsuit in which if he didn't resign the company would be shut down. He is now drug-free after resuscitating his friend who overdosed on cocaine. Not to mention, that the FBI is on his butt because they found out about his illegal offshore bank account. Stratton Oakmont, like all good things, must come to an end. This is where I leave you, until next time.

The Wolf of Wall Street

The Wolf of Wall Street - Jordan Belfort

After taking a break from reading The Millionaire Mind, I came across this novel. The Wolf of Wall Street is the self memoir of Jordan Belfort. It covers his rise and fall of success. By discovering loopholes in the Stock Market, he is now making millions of dollars a day, but being the eccentric playboy he is, he is blowing it faster than he can count it. It covers the controversial issues of Wall Street, as well as the heavy drug abuse he faced, his overall greed, and not to mention his many cases of adultery. Although this book is very profane, it is written excellently! Two days, 172 pages in and I'm hooked! It keeps me on the edge of my seat wondering," What will Jordan do next?"

The Millionaire Mind

The Millionaire Mind - Thomas J. Stanley

The Millionaire Mind is the second installment of Thomas J. Stanley's Millionaire series. This book is a more in depth version of The Millionaire Next Door. Unlike in The Millionaire Next Door, this book focuses on the mind of a millionaire. For example, how they became affluent and how they did it. So far (pg48) this book is a great read, I can't wait to finish this book.

The Millionaire Next Door

The Millionaire Next Door - Thomas J. Stanley, William D. Danko

This book is unlike any I've ever read. First off, it's not traditionally written. This book does not have a plot or even a set of characters. It's a summary of 20 years of studying millionaires and their work ethics/spending habits. In this novel, you are either a Prodigious Accumulator of Wealth (PAW) or an Under Accumulator of Wealth (UAW). And with the use of tables and examples of real life UAWs and PAWs, it starts to show you the basics to becoming a millionaire and how to think like one. If you are interested in becoming financially independent in the future, I would highly recommend this book.
